Wow!

Wow I didn't mean to be gone for over a week!  I've been so busy getting ready for the Crafty Gals Extravaganza this Friday and then the Bransby Autumn Fair on Sunday that time is just running away from me.  I've been making loads of things from cards to fabric baskets to dribble bibs.  Then bath melts and salts for Pamper Gift Bags.  It's just busy, busy, busy.

I've also taken delivery of a felt order ready for the Merit Badges.  Very excited as I should be able to get started soon!

And last, but by no means least, the first delivery of the new ribbons arrived!  They are all on the website now :o)

A custom A5 size notebook is on it's way to Paris - maybe I could add A5 size to my stock...what do you reckon?

The latest owl cushion to fly the nest definitely has a bit of an autumnal feel about him :o)

Value ~ Pricing ~ Self-worth

A couple of days ago I posted the pictures of my dribble bibs on my Facebook page.  Someone asked how much they were so I told them the price and was immediately undercut by someone (on my own page).  I laughed when I saw it and, after someone commented on the woman's rudeness, I removed the comment.  I had to admire the guts of the person but it got me wondering about her pricing, the value she puts on her time and the costs she incurred without her actual time included.  My own bibs are £3...she quoted £1.50 for the same thing.  Is she making any money at all with that price?!  I seriously doubt it.  I then doubted my own price (as you would) as I know that you can get 3 for £6 in Next.  But, mine are made by me, not someone getting a ridiculously low hourly rate, mine are unique, made to order for the customer.  They are far from the most expensive that I've seen on the internet, but nor are they the cheapest either.  Do I make a lot of money on them?...certainly not but I don't give them away either.  Maybe I should send a link to the woman for this post...it might get her thinking about the value of her own time ;o)

Personalised!

It seems to have been a week of personalised items this week.  There's been 2 lots of bunting (one for a christening gift and the other for a grandson's bedroom) and a personalised card for a sister's 19th birthday.  The card request was great as I'd made the 18th birthday card last year!  So wonderful to be asked to do another one :o)

There's also been this dribble bib...not something I've made before but the customer wants three more so definitely something I'll make again ;o)

New Felt Bundles

I spent the afternoon yesterday making up these felt bundles for the website.  Just got to add the Pinks and the Earthy Tones then I'll be happy.

This morning I have spent most of my time updating the website and Etsy shop, checking stock levels, and adding new items.  After lunch I made more bath melts so the house smells amazing now...and I'm very calm ;o)

Progress

Firstly, let me thank you all for the lovely comments on my exciting news announcement a few days ago.  It means a great deal having all those fabulous words said about the things I make.

The above picture of my new workshop was taken a few days ago.  It's got a few more rows on it now :o).
There won't be any windows as we're on the look out for a second hand patio door that will allow much more light in.  I'm getting rather excited!!  I'll be asking you all for name recommendations too, so get thinking ;o)

I've made great progress on my long list of orders too.  I've had more added along the way, but I seem to be getting on top of it all.  I did have an order over the weekend for a Gift Set of the soaps and scrubs that would be used as a raffle prize, so that gave me the perfect opportunity to try one of the fabric baskets that had been on my 'list of things to try'.   I love this, so I'll definitely be making more.

Right, off to prepare for a little boy's first day back at school tomorrow :o)
